She furthered her Urologic education with a matched fellowship from the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Urologists in Texas, which is approved by the American Urologic Association. A full listing of these approved reconstructive fellowships can be found on the following website: http://www.societygurs.org/gurs/initiatives/fellowship. She was also an assistant professor who practiced both clinical urology in an academic setting training residents as well as research at the University of Texas for over 6 years. During that time she trained many residents and countless medical students. She also became very proficient in the use of robotic assisted surgery which is unique amongst other reconstructive urologists. She has also been awarded a grant from intuitive surgical, which is the company that makes the da Vinci surgical robot. This grant was awarded for her research in surgical simulation. She also received an award for teaching during her time at the University of Texas and completed training in the Physician Leadership Academy. She is fully board certified in Urology by the American Board of Urology. She is a member of the American Urologic Society, a member of the Society for Genitourinary Reconstructive Urologists (GURS), and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons amongst other professional organizations. She moved back to the east coast to Philadelphia in 2017, and is very glad to be closer to her family who lives in Baltimore, MD and also Media, Pennsylvania. She tackles the most difficult reconstructive cases, including urethral stricture disease, robotic assisted urinary diversion, reconstruction of the kidney and ureters, female pelvic disorders like incontinence and prolapse, urinary fistulae, peyronie’s disease which is penile curvature (many surgeons are proficient in only placation type procedures or injection, but she can also perform plaque excision and allograft for the most complex of these patients), and repair of complications from transgender surgical procedures, ureteral reimplantation, amongst many other surgeries. She is also very proficient at robotic surgery for cancer like prostate or kidney cancer. When choosing a reconstructive urologist, it is important to look at years of experience, fellowship training at an approved fellowship, and breadth of types of surgeries with good outcomes.
