Brian D. Rosenthal, DO, FACOS, is board certified in urology and urologic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He served on the board of directors of Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pennsylvania and is active on the medical staffs at Suburban Hospital, Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Abington Health/Lansdale Hospital and Phoenixville Hospital. He is chief of urology and urologic surgery at Suburban Hospital as well as the director of minimally invasive robotic surgery. Dr. Rosenthal belongs to numerous organizations including the American Urological Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Rosenthal was raised in Springfield Township, Montgomery County, where he attended Springfield High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., then attended medical school and completed his internship at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and his urology residency at PCOM and Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. During his residency, Dr. Rosenthal also spent time at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he gained additional training in urologic oncology and pediatric urology.
Dr. Rosenthal has presented at national meetings and is the author of numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has received many awards including the Pfizer Scholars in Urology award for excellence in urology. He serves on multiple speakers’ bureaus and presents lectures on urologic topics for other physicians. The Canadian Journal of Urology published Dr. Rosenthal’s article titled, “Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate in Office and Outpatient Settings.”
Dr. Rosenthal has a special interest in robotics and minimally invasive urologic surgery for tumors of the kidney, ureter, and prostate as well as non-malignant urologic diseases. He is a certified instructor and proctor in robotic surgery for Intuitive Surgical, Inc. He performed the first robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy at Suburban and Chestnut Hill hospitals using the Da Vinci robotic system. Dr. Rosenthal is one of a few urologists in the area to perform in-office laser prostate surgery for benign enlargement of the prostate (BPH).
Dr. Rosenthal was selected as one of Philadelphia magazine’s Top Doctors from 2010-2018 and he was named one of the best physicians chosen by his peers for 2012/2013 by U.S. News and World Report. He has been named a Top Doctor by Main Line Today and Suburban Life magazines.
Dr. Rosenthal has been practicing in the East Norriton area since 2004. He evaluates and treats men and women with all urologic problems and diseases. He sees patients Monday through Friday at the East Norriton office of Urologic Consultants of Southeastern Pennsylvania and is available by appointment for both routine and urgent issues.
