William G. Merriam, M.D.
Education and Background
Dr. Merriam received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University where he majored in chemistry, and his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine, formerly MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine, graduating with honors. He then accepted a prestigious two-year fellowship at the National Cancer Institute before completing his residency at Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Merriam is on the medical executive committee at Main Line Health and at Keystone Lithotripsy. He is chief of urology at Brandywine Hospital.
A talented surgeon, Dr. Merriam’s goal has always been to help improve the health of his patients and his community. He focuses on providing and expanding options for less invasive treatment modalities for diseases of the prostate and kidney. He believes in a collaborative approach to solving problems and in making sure patients understand and participate in the decisions surrounding their health. He brings skill and a compassionate bedside manner to his patients.
Dr. Merriam grew up outside of Washington, D.C. and is an avid fan of the Washington Commanders. He enjoys playing soccer, skiing with his family, and working in his garden.
He and his wife, also a physician, have two daughters.
